New Ideas & Growing Markets - Small Business Programme

Small business, youth entrepreneurs and home based owner/managers in Shepparton, Kyabram, Numurkah, Nathalia and surrounding region are set for a boost.

Just Good Business Pty. Ltd. in partnership with the Greater Shepparton Business Centre has been successful in securing $175,000 of funds from the Commonwealth Government’s Program to Build Entrepreneurship in Small Business (BESP).

Supported by the City of Greater Shepparton and local small business associations 60 small businesses will be invited to participate in three programs at the Greater Shepparton Business Centre.  High quality workshops and confidential advice will be provided to galvanise individual business operators to improve business opportunities, networking activities, cross-selling abilities and strategic marketing skills.  Regional networking events will assist participants to develop new cross-regional marketing.

Commencing in October 2007 participants will be able to attend fortnightly workshops and receive up to 10 hours one-on-one coaching including a confidential business diagnostic and projected 12 month profit and loss.

The focus will be to develop new entrepreneurial opportunities for growth through cross selling, strategic marketing solutions, IT skilling and innovation.  Valued at $3,000 the commonwealth government grant and City of Greater Shepparton support has enabled this extensive program to be offered for only $150 + GST per participant.

Workshops run by subject specialists will enable new skill development.  Particular attention will be given to developing marketing plans, web-based marketing (local and global) and long term networking opportunities.  Additional benefits for participants include networking with businesses in Mitchell, Whittlesea and Murrindindi shires.

There will be 20 businesses selected for each of the three programs.  Participants will include youth entrepreneurs (under 35), home based business, service, manufacturing, small scale farming and trades.  All businesses will be brought together for marketing and networking opportunities across the region, e.g. this includes enhanced cooperation among business, local government and business associations.

The NEW OPPORTUNITIES Small Business Programme is an Australian Government funded initiative under the Building Entrepreneurship in Small Business Program.
