The Greater Shepparton Business Centre is holding a number of workshops aimed at assisting people who operate small or home-based businesses.
Australian Taxation Office (ATO) – Tax Basics for Small Business Workshop
The Tax Basics for Small Business Workshop will give you a basic understanding of small business tax obligations and entitlements when running a small business.
The ATO will show you practical ways to assess your tax responsibilities relevant to your business.
This workshop will cover the following topics:
- Which taxes affect your business
- Assessing business structures
- Income tax
- Capital gains tax
- Simplified tax system
- Business expenses and deductions
- Motor vehicle expenses
- Fuel schemes
- Employees and other workers.

Home Based Business Network - Easter Networking Event
This is a free networking event for home based business operators.
Businesses will have the opportunity to listen to a guest speaker, look over displays of other home based businesses and swap business cards and information.
Food and drinks are provided.

Under New Management - Employing People
This workshop will cover the following topics:
- Understand the employer responsibilities
- Decide on employment strategies
- Recruit staff
- Manage staff
- How to terminate employment.
