Housemart was founded in 1984 by the Russell family. Based on their mission “Artist in Design” they specialised in personalising individual designs. Christine McKenzie came to Housemart, now named Housemart Design, in 1996, and continues to offer design in residential buildings, as well as town planning applications and now Energy Rating Reports as well. As an accredited Energy Rater, Christine is committed to energy efficient designs, for both new and existing homes, that meet or exceed the government’s Five Star Rating Requirements.
Housemart Design provides Energy Rating Reports for all new, existing and relocatable homes as required for building permits, as well as energy efficient designs for new homes, and modifications to existing dwellings.
A number of factors contribute to a home’s energy rating, and Housemart Design are qualified to advise you on the appropriate measures to bring your home into line with the government’s energy rating requirements.Since 2003, government regulations have required all new dwellings to meet a five star energy efficiency standard. With regard to homes built on stumps, the date for compliance to these standards has been extended until August 2007, and may well be extended beyond that date, to allow for innovations in technique to make compliance possible. Prior to this date, new dwellings built on stumps are required to meet a Four Star Standard. Other types of homes are subject to different ratings standards as follows.
With a stronger focus than ever on environmental sustainability, it is likely that we have only seen the beginning of energy efficiency requirements for private dwellings. Housemart Design is committed to creating designs that exceed the current standards wherever possible, ensuring that their clients’ homes are ahead of their time. Well designed and built homes should last for up to a century and close attention to sustainability at the design stage offers the real chance that homes can comfortably accommodate their occupiers, without modification, for their lifetime.
Obtaining an energy rating report need not be a matter of inconvenience; Housemart Design is keen to help you conserve your own energy as well, and works independently to provide a timely, economical and hassle free service. We simply need a copy of your working drawings indicating footings, external cladding, window sizes, type of glazing and frame type and site plan showing orientation.
For your convenience drawings can be emailed in Cad Form into PDF file to housemar@shepparton.net.au. Alternatively, drawings can be posted to Housemart Design PO Box 709, Shepparton, 3630, or delivered to our office at the Greater Shepparton Business Centre located at 70 New Dookie Rd Shepparton.
