Goulburn Murray Landcare Network was first established in 1995 to
assist Landcare groups in the Shepparton Irrigation Region.

We currently assist 48 Landcare groups from Yarrawonga in the North, to Lockington in the West, Murchison in the South and Dookie to the East.
Our aims
- Support individual Landcare groups
- Provide a forum for Landcare groups to exchange ideas and experiences
- Publicise and promote the role of Landcare in sustainable land use
- Attract business and industry support
- Develop links with government agencies, local government, schools, tertiary institutions, urban communities and other appropriate groups
- Encourage and assist Landcare projects and submissions for funding
- Co-ordinate and maximise the use of all resources (people, equipment, information, etc)
- Encourage researchers and Landcare groups in research partnerships
- Ensure a high profile for Landcare priorities and issues at the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority and its committees
Projects we are involved with:
Drainwatch
We have 21 volunteers around the catchment who monitor water quality and flow in irrigation drains.
Local Area Planning Development and Implementation
Eight Local Area Plans have been developed in the Shepparton Irrigation Region over the past four years. We are now involved with the Implementation of these plans.
Watertable Watch
This program has been operating for the past 10 years and involves volunteer who monitor Watertable depths in the region.
The Department of Primary Industries has established regional Watertable maps from this data.
Community Capacity Building and Funding support
We assist Landcare groups with field days, projects, community awareness days and social events. preparing project funding applications.
